Reader review(s):

A lot of good information!, January 23, 2001
Zig Ziglar has out done himself once again in coming out with this great book on Network Marketing. I am a great fan of Zig's sales and motivational tools and this book is no exception. The book covers an in-depth look at compensation plans, handling customers, being a leader, etc. The only true flaw is that this book lacks the insight on informing new recruits of the MLM pitfalls they are bound to encounter. It also skips over the exact "how-to"'s of handling objections and doing presentations. Plus this book is not "simple" enough or easy to "duplicate" for the new recruit. It's just too long!. If you're looking for a book that covers the essentials of "how" to succeed in MLM, may I suggest: "Your First Year in Network Markting" by Mark and Rene Reid Yarnell, instead.

Bottom Line: Don't get me wrong, this is a great book for people who want to know about Network Marketing, and with just a little fine tuning, would be the best book ever!.

I hope this was helpful to you.

Should be: How to be a dummy in network marketing, February 20, 2003
I have always been a fan of Zig, that is until this book. What ever happened to Zig's own Network Marketing Company? That's right it went under. Not even the marketing power of his name could save it and now he wants to tell you how to build a solid business? Zig is a great sales trainer and motivator but it's evident from this book that he didn't have much hands on experience in this business. At one point he says that you should be proud of being in the "sale profession" and then in another part he says the Network Marketing isn't about sales. Network Marketing is a legitimate business not a get rich quick scheme. Unfortunately too many people sell it as the latter and this time Zig goes along. As a seven figure earner myself I would recommend other sources like Leaders Club, for honest information about what it takes to really make it big in this business. If you want a great Ziglar book get, "5 Steps to Successful Selling."

The Best Source Of Information On Network Marketing Period, August 15, 2001
Zig Ziglar is an icon in the network marketing industry.

If you are looking at starting a network marketing business you must read this book. It will teach you how to choose a good company, giving all the right questions to ask and what to look for.

If you are an established network marketing professional, this book is a great gift to a new distributor, and a great read for you to help your business grow.

This book will become the defentive guide on this industry, by someone who knows it inside and out. I find myself very blessed to be in the company that Zig is involved with, and will make sure this book is well utilized in my organization.

Buy It!!!

"Network marketing" and Christianity don't mix, November 30, 2002
Something has gone seriously awry with the moral compass of a Christian who is able to countenance the concept of "network marketing," a/k/a "multi-level marketing."

Let's face it: all cold-call sales techniques break the Golden Rule. Multi-level marketing is worse even than them: in the pursuit of a golden dream of money and glittery respect that elude most of its dupes, it hitches its star to a self-promoting philosophy of salesmanship whose essence seems to be that if you hope to successfully deceive others, you must first deceive yourself. "Network marketing" treats our friends, neighbours, church members and other social acquaintances as tools, hoping to sell them a product, or better, recruit them into a pyramid scheme and add them to your "downline."

What would Jesus do? If you value humility, if you would not be drawn closer to the world, if you would walk with the Man of Sorrows, I think you should steer as far away from this sort of "success" promotion as possible.

5 Reasons not to buy this book!, April 20, 2001
I have read hundreds of books on networking, hundreds of books on business, hundreds of text books and at least 5 novels. I met Zig when I was 18, he told me something that changed my life (it's in the book). The concept of this book is simple (thus the Dummies title), if you want to grow your group, this is the one. It is loaded with great information. Now the 5 reasons: 1. Don't but it if you want to spend the next 5 years trying to figure out the industry. 2. Don't buy it if you want to spend the next 5 years trying to figure out people. 3. Don't but it if you want to make every mistake and learn your own lessons. 4. Don't buy it read it and do nothing. 5. Don't buy it unless you have a dream of where you want to go. It's my book of the year!!!

It's really for DUMMIES, March 24, 2001
This book was written by someone who has never done network marketing. For example, Zig suggests you "Interview corporate executives before joining the company, or talk to successful distributors." (p 82) Corporate executives are not going to talk to the average prospect (try calling Zig) and successful distributors (if you can talk to them) are going to to tell you how great the company is. There is a lot of such impractical advice like this in this book! I'm a Zig fan, but not this time. There are a lot of better books on the subject.

Good basic MLM book by Zig, June 16, 2004
Zig Ziglar is America's motivator. As another reviewer has already alluded to, 75% of Fortune 500 companies utilize Zig's training systems. And Zig has trained over 1,000 network marketers. Zig was also successful himself as a network marketer and in direct sales. He speaks from experience.

More importantly, Zig is a great trainer. He knows how to bring out the best in everyone. And co author John P. Hayes has his own powerful credentials.

This book is particularly good for newbies in network marketing. Zig will show you how to pick your first company, what to look for, what to look out for and to what to avoid. He gives his usual motivational tips and it is updated to include the internet.

If you are new to network marketing, then I cannot recommend this book enough. Also recommend Mark Yarnels excellent book, Your First Year in Network Marketing.

Network Marketing for Everybody !, May 14, 2001
As one of the contributors to this book, I was even more pleased with the finished result than I had imagined. Of course, many people in our organization have purchased Network Marketing for Dummies... the first of whom was so inspired after reading the expert advice and detailed descriptions of Network Marketing (including invaluable tips from a variety of industry leaders) that in less than 60 days she became our company's fastest 4-star Manager in Canada ! Many others have also achieved record-setting results, and credit much of their success to the basic training and business-building strategies presented in Network Marketing for Dummies. This book is an excellent orientation for anyone curious about the industry, as well an essential "field guide" for network marketers wishing to take their business to the next level...

Great stuff!, May 7, 2001
After being in Network Marketing for 10 years and rising to the top of two different pay plans this is some of the best stuff I have ever read! The gold nuggets of wisdom are priceless. The easy ways to apply them are even better! This is a must read for anyone that is serious about making Network Marketing a career.
