About the Author
STEVE MARSHALL knows a good joke when he sees one. He has worked in film and television comedy for the past twenty years, having written and produced such series as "WKRP IN CINCINNATI", "GLORIA" and "GROWING PAINS". He has also Executive Produced and co-created "OFF THE RACK" Starring Edward Asner and Eileen Brennen, the ABC-TV show "JUST THE TEN OF US" and the UPN series "LIVE SHOT". Among his motion picture credits is the Twentieth Century Fox film, "REVENGE OF THE NERDS II, NERDS IN PARADISE" for which he is deeply apologetic.

PATTY MILLER-MARSHALL is a social worker for a foster family agency in Los Angeles. She has taught numerous college courses, had a private psychotherapy practice, worked as a parole agent and a lobbyist (thus she has worked on both sides of law). Patty credits her experience as the mother of six as not only the source of her sense of humor but perhaps her entitlement to canonization as well. She has written short stories, poetry and is currently working on her first novel.

Book Description
LOL: THE HUMOR OF THE INTERNET is an up-to-date compilation of the latest and best jokes currently being circulated on the Internet. Since the rise of the Worldwide Web, there is no doubt that it had become the number one method for the transmission and distribution of humor. Seconds after a new joke is hatched, it can be on its way around the world, arriving in countless e-mail boxes within minutes and exponentially passed along almost immediately to hundreds of thousands of others.

The sheer volume of such jokes insures that many, if not most, will be lame efforts or simply retreads of jokes that have been seen countless times before. Now Steve Marshall and Patty Miller-Marshall have emerged to take on the gargantuan task of editing these jokes down to the truly hilarious, hysterical "laugh-out-loud" funny material.

"LOL: THE HUMOR OF THE INTERNET" is, quite simply, one of the strongest and most consistently funny humor collections to come along in recent memory.

Now you can see all the best of the humor of the internet without having to wade through a host of lame jokes to get to the real gems. If you're always at a loss when those around you are telling jokes, LOL - The Humor of the Internet is the collection for you. Sometimes ribald, sometimes raunchy, always funny, we have scoured the internet to bring you the very best rib-ticklers, knee-slappers and LAUGH OUT LOUD jokes out there today.

Reader review(s):

an anthology of jokes that have appeared on the internet, October 1, 1999
EVERYONE HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO A JOKE LIST ONLINE, YOU KNOW THE JOKES YOU READ AND SEND WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING. THE TROUBLE IS,MOST OF THESE JOKES ARE EITHR LAME, OR SO OLD, YOUR GRANDFATHER KNEW THEM. THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT THE LAME AND SENSELESS ONES ARE ELIMINATED AND THE GOOD ONES ARE CATAGORIZED. ALOT OF THEM ARE TIMELY, SUBJECTS THAT WE CAN ALL RELATE TO. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK, AND IT IS GREAT TOILET READING MATERIAL.

BEST JOKEBOOK I'VE READ IN YEARS, October 7, 1999
Whoever selected the jokes for this book really knows what's funny. The title means "laugh out loud" and I did on a number of occasions. In fact, my wife wanted to know why I was laughing in the bathroom. Some of the introductions to the various chapters are almost as funny as the jokes themselves. I recommend this book for anyone who likes to laugh -- and who doesn't?

Laughing Out Loud Til I Cried, March 23, 2000
This by far is the best joke book I've come across. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I laughed so hard my cat started looking at me funny!

Bravo Steve & Patty for a job exceptionally well done.Dividing the book into chapters is great - makes joke telling so much easier. Can't wait til the next volume comes out!

If Laughter Is The Best Medicine, You Could Overdose, February 4, 2000
If you consider laughing a pastime, this book is "the ticket". LOL: The Humor of the Internet is by far one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. The chapter on Religion is hysterically funny and quite introspective in an odd sort of way. Hot Tip: for those of us (oops!, I mean you) who suffer from irregularity, this book makes the time pass (even if nothing else does) so beautifully. You hardly realize that a whole half hour has gone by. It's the perfect gift for the person that has everything.

A definate must read!

IT WILL INDEED MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD, January 29, 2000
I not only laughed out loud, but sometimes till the tears rolled. LOL is the perfect antidote for a gloomy mood and it's a great bottle-of-wine alternative for hostess gifts. I heartily recommend it for everyone with a vital funny-bone.

A GREAT GIFT BOOK, December 10, 1999
A great collection of really funny jokes! It's a perfect gift for anyone with a sense of humor. I love a good joke... now I can even tell one without forgetting the punch line. It's perfect to take on a car trip or have at a party. Keep the humor alive...

Laughed til it hurt!, December 3, 1999
So many e-mail jokes come my way that I now delete them before I read them, thus missing the good ones with the bad. Not to worry! Steve and Patty Marshall have solved the problem with their excellent collection. My husband was chuckling while he read several pages, and began to read out loud to me. Unfortunately, I'd recently had oral surgery, and I was laughing so hard I had to ask him to stop!

if laughter is the best medicine, this one will cure you!, November 16, 1999
From a psychiatric perspective this book is so offensive and crude that all will feel offended. In short there is equal opportunity humor for all. Do not read this book if you do not enjoy laughing At last we can say that the Internet has a personality, and it is disordered!

This book cracks me up!, October 21, 1999
I was surprised to find I really *was* laughing out loud reading this collection. I've been on the Internet from its early days, and on BBSes (Bulletin Boards) before that. I thought I'd read every joke possible to be e-mailed. But many of these were new even to me. Steve and Patty obviously have a real knack for ferreting out great humor. I can't wait for volume 2!

I laughed till I wet my pants!, October 21, 1999
This is a collection of those jokes I love but can never remember the next day. Offensive, crude, coarse -- there is something here to offend everyone! I love it! If you buy this book and don't laugh -- you're dead -- or a member of some group who take themselves way too seriosly.
