In this proceedings volume from a 2002 conference in Berlin, researchers from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Technische Universitat Berlin exchange results they have achieved in common projects of the two partner universities, and present new work that might lead to further cooperation. Earlier gatherings have considered artificial intelligence, advanced software, communication-based systems, and robotics. Here, 18 reports focus on the enabling technologies and challenging applications of Internet technology, discussing such facets as information extraction, data analysis, electronic learning and trading, robotics, telepresence and telemanipulation, metacomputing, quality of service, and image retrieval. They are not indexed.Copyright © 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
