About the Author
Donna S. Ireton is Director of ASD';s Acquisition Management Consulting and Training Group, with 20 years of federal contract management experience and eight years of experience in developing and presenting educational programs for both the public and private sectors. Until FY 2000, she served as ASD';s Director of Contracts. She has also managed several projects at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, District of Columbia Government, and the Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in support of procurement, property, financial, and other business management systems.

Since 1994, Ms. Ireton has designed, developed, and presented hundreds of acquisition management seminars and workshops. Topics include performance based contracting, risk management, contract/business management, federal government acquisition reform, commercial contracting and subcontracting, incentive contracting, market research, small business/socioeconomic program contracting, and electronic commerce. She has authored or co-authored numerous texts.

Ms. Ireton was the 1998-99 President of the National Contract Management Association. She served NCMA for two years as its National Vice President for Education and Certification with responsibility for NCMA';s education and certification programs worldwide, and one year as its President-Elect. Ms. Ireton authors a monthly column, "Small Business Briefs," for NCMA';s Contract Management magazine, and she is a frequent public speaker and consultant on small business contracting issues and federal acquisition reform.

Ms. Ireton has a B.S. (1979) and a M.S. (1982), University of Maryland; a Graduate Certificate in Government Procurement and 13 courses towards Graduate Certificate in Government Property Management, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (1984); and a Master's Certificate in Government Contracting (core curriculum), George Washington University (1985).
