Book Description
The prospects of Internet growth in Brazil have attracted a number of players. Two years ago, there were an estimated 1,200 ISPs in Brazil. This number is decreasing significantly, as consolidation takes place (see Exhibit 1). We believe that the competitive dynamic in Brazil's Internet market is far from defined and that a great deal of reorganization is still ahead. Yet competition will intensify, as well-capitalized global and Pan-American players get ready to mark their territories. This is the second of a two-part Yankee Group Report addressing the Brazilian Internet market. In Part 1, we addressed the major factors shaping the nature of Brazil's Internet industry. Here, we will look at the main players this market has attracted, their strategy for Brazil, their strengths and weaknesses, and acquisition trends in the near future.
