Firewalls |
? | ? |
A firewall is a piece of software that blocks off common access points to your computer, preventing hackers and some forms of spyware from invading your PC. For most people, a firewall is installed as a standalone software program on their PC. On larger corporate networks, firewalls are usually installed on a dedicated Linux server.
In any case, a firewall is a necessity on today's internet. Without one, it is not a matter of if, but when your computer will be compromised and your data lost or stolen.
